Chapter 1: The Birth of Final Bistro Productions

Sean Boucher and Gabriel Perez met in 2023, the first year either of them had done stand up comedy. They couldn’t be more opposite, but they shared one thing: neither had anything else going on other than the desire to get undeniably funny.

Rather than wait for opportunities, they formed Final Bistro Productions and started hosting open mics and running shows around Portland and Southern Maine.

Chapter 2: A Russian Scammer and a Sandwich

The idea for Flip Flops Comedy Club came two years later when Gabriel received a call from a Russian scammer pretending to be the FBI. The scammer claimed Gabriel shared a name with a narcoterrorist and that the FBI was about to close all his accounts. Gabriel almost fell for it — to the point of nearly closing his bank accounts — before realizing what an idiot he was being.

At the same time, Sean was killing time getting a sandwich on Old Orchard Street.

When they met up after, they saw the future location of Flip Flops was for lease.

Gabriel figured: if he was about to give all his money to a stranger overseas anyway, why not waste it chasing dreams with his best friend?

Chapter 3: The Two Weeks That Lasted A Summer

After lease negotiations where both Gabriel and Sean pretended to know what they were doing, the landlord said the sprinkler system would be done in two weeks. It took four months. A whole summer of nothing happening. No shows. No revenue. Just two guys standing in an empty room wondering if they’d made a huge mistake.

Then winter came. They kept waiting. Kept building. Kept believing.

Flip Flops Comedy Club finally opens its doors for a soft opening on May 9, 2026, with the official inaugural date set for May 22, 2026.

Chapter 4: Comedy at the Top of the Hill

Flip Flops Comedy Club is an ocean-themed room with 40 seats — the fire marshal was clear on that — right on Old Orchard Street where local comedians sharpen their material and visitors come for a cold beer and a spicy punchline.

We feature Maine’s best local talent, surprise guests from away, and a room where every seat feels like the front row. Flip Flops is for tourists who need a break from the beach and locals who want a real comedy club in their backyard.
